If you attended our last Annual General Meeting you heard about the automated call
systems for municipalities, which allows them to quickly reach their citizens in the event of an
emergency situation. If you missed it, here’s how you can get notified of such an event
by your municipality.
It’s quite simple. On the website of the municipality where you live, you can access to the registration form in 1 or 2 clicks. Once you have completed the form, the city will have your phone number allowing it to alert you to an important situation that requires your attention.
Please note that the name of these automated calling systems varies from one municipality to another.

At Wentworth the system is called TELMATIK.
At Lachute, it’s AUTOMATED CALL SYSTEM.
At Gore the system is called TELMATIK MESSAGE EXPRESS.
At Brownsburgh-Chatham it’s SOMUM: the Municipal Automated Calling and Texting
Service .
So be proactive by signing up now for this service which can sometimes save you small and big problems.

It is important to note that if you use the services of Fibre Argenteuil and that your land line is tied to Fibre, then in the event of a power failure your landline will not work.
You will need an alternative power source (eg generator or battery back-up) hooked up to your modem in order to have land line service.
This would be especially important if your cellular coverage is limited or non-existent where you live.
Dear Claudette, it is true that there are several alert systems. For example, when a child goes missing the police can trigger an Amber Alert. When there is an imminent risk of tornado the alerts we receive on our cell phone come from the Emergency Operations Center of the Quebec gvt. The automated call services of municipalities are specific to their territory. These calls may be related to public works in the event of a major sinkhole on a road, or a road bypass or a flood. Hope this is helpful.

great wrok
Thank you. Signed up now.
When emergency situations arise , notices are sent us from Brownsburg-Chatham and Wentworth and from a Canada wide messaging service, (on cell phone) which appear or are telephoned in. If this is another alert system, it would be a good idea to know as much about it as possible.
